An extradition hearing in the case of Liam Adams, the brother of Sinn Féin leader Gerry Adams who is wanted on the North on charges of rape and indecent assault against his daughter, is due to go ahead next month.

Mr Adams, of Bernagh Avenue in Belfast, is accused of multiple counts of rape, indecent assault and gross indecency against Aine Tyrell, who has waived her right to anonymity.

The 54-year-old denies all the charges, and is contesting his extradition.

He is also appealing a High Court decision to refuse an order of discovery made by his legal team last July, as part of the defence case against his extradition to the North.

The High Court ruled it would not grant the order sought by Mr Adams, for a letter sent by authorities here, seeking “further clarification” of certain issues from the Crown Solicitor’s office in Belfast.

Judge Michael Peart adjourned the matter until November 15 and has remanded Mr Adams on continuing bail.
