Abuse survivor will not meet papal delegation

A survivor of clerical sex abuse insists he has no intention of meeting with a papal team who are due here in the coming weeks to look into Church's handling of child sex abuse allegations.

A statement issued by the Vatican last night said the team will give particular attention to victims of abuse and their families when they visit Ireland.

The Pope announced in June that he was sending four Archbishops here to investigate.

Survivor of clerical child sex abuse, Andrew Madden, said today he won't be attending any meeting with the Vatican officials.

"I think that's up to the victims of clerical child sex abuse and their families, and not up to the bishops," Mr Madden said.

"I certainly have no intention of meeting them," he added.

"I think this apostolic visitation is self-serving, window-dressing nonsense, and I don't intend to dignify it with my participation."
