Leaked correspondence warns of 'highly unsafe' level of cover at hospital
Our Lady of Lourdes hospital in Drogheda, Co Louth is at the centre of controversy once again today.
Internal correspondence seen by the Irish Times newspaper shows that one junior doctor there does not have a good enough standard of English to be on call.
A letter from the head of the Anaesthetics Department at the hospital also describes the level of cover in his section as "highly unsafe for patients and staff", for a number of reasons, including excessive workloads and cuts in junior doctors' pay.
