Combating dissidents a priority for gardaí, says Commissioner
Garda Commissioner Fahcthna Murphy said today that tackling dissident republicans will remain a key priority for gardaí.
Last week the British Government raised the threat level to the UK from Irish-related terrorists to "substantial".
Facthna Murphy says there are a small group of people living in the Republic, engaged in dissident activity, who are the focus of ongoing garda operations.
"They have achieved some limited success in recent times," said Commissioner Facthna Murphy.
"Our job is to co-operate and to work closely with the policing and security agencies in Northern Ireland, and we're doing that."
