Ploughing Championships to generate up to €10m

Up to 66,000 people have attended the opening day of the 2010 National and European Ploughing Championships in Co Kildare.

Earlier today President Mary McAleese officially opened the 79th championships which are taking place in Cardenton just outside Athy.

Over the three days of the event at least 180,000 people are expected to visit the exhibition to generate an estimated €10m for the local economy.
