A man has been arrested after a shooting incident in Dublin overnight.

The 24-year-old victim was shot in the leg at a house on Adare Road in Coolock at about 1.30am. There were two other men and two women in the house with the victim at the time of the shooting.

He was taken to Beaumont Hospital for treatment, where he is in a stable condition.

Gardaí located a car near to the scene which they believe to have been used by the gunman. In a follow-up operation, they arrested a 24-year-old man close to the scene and he was taken to Ballymun garda station.

He has been detained under Section 30 of The Offences Against The State Act and can be held for up to 72 hours.
