Irish birth rate highest in EU

Ireland continues to have one of the highest birth rates in Europe, according to new data from Eurostat, the EU statistics agency.

The figures show that in 2009 the Irish birth was 16.8 births per thousand people and the death rate was only 6.6 deaths per thousand of the population, one of the lowest in Europe.
