Legal hitches delaying Children’s rights referendum, admits Minister

The Childrens Minister has admitted that the referendum on the rights of the child is being held up because of legal stumbling blocks.

Children's Minister Barry Andrews has admitted that the referendum on the rights of the child is being held up because of legal stumbling blocks.

Minister Andrews there is still a need for some "tweaking" on certain aspects of the Bill, which will in time be put before the people.

It has been more than five months since an all-party committee agreed the wording of a Constitutional amendment to improve the rights of children.

No date has yet been set by the Government for the holding of a referendum.
