A 29-year-old man was remanded in custody today after he was charged over cocaine seizures with an estimated street value of €10.5m in Dublin last week.

A 29-year-old man was remanded in custody today after he was charged over cocaine seizures with an estimated street value of €10.5m in Dublin last week.

Michael Fitzgerald (aged 29) of Cushlawn Park, in Tallaght was brought before Dublin District Court this evening and charged with possessing cocaine for sale or supply at his home address, and another at Corrib Road, in Terenure, on June 24 and June 27 last.

He also faces an additional charge for possessing a semi-automatic pistol at Corrib Road on June 27.

Detective Richard Kelly told Judge Bryan Smyth that the defendant made no reply when he was charged at Kevin Street Garda station this afternoon.

He applied for a remand in custody.

Defence solicitor Kieran Conway told the court that his client was not making a bail application.

Judge Smyth remanded the accused in custody to appear at Cloverhill District Court on July 8 next.
