Unemployment rises to new high in March

The number of unemployed people here rose to a new high of 275,000 in March, official figures revealed today.

The latest Quarterly Household Survey shows the number of unemployed people increased by 7,600 on the previous three months, but the rate of increase slowed significantly since the end of last year.
