Bomb hoax trial nears conclusion

The trial of a man accused of sending two hoax bomb threat emails to Heathrow Airport has reached its closing stages at Dublin Circuit Criminal Court today.

Adam Busby (aged 61), of Santry Lodge, Ballymun, has pleaded not guilty to two counts of sending hoax messages, for the purpose of causing annoyance, inconvenience or needless anxiety, at Charleville Mall Public Library, North Strand on May 8 and 15, 2006.

Earlier today the jury of five women and seven men were charged by Judge Desmond Hogan and heard closing speeches from prosecution counsel, Mr Dominic McGinn BL, and defence counsel, Mr Peter Finlay SC (with Mr Cormac Quinn BL).

Judge Hogan sent the jury home after it had been deliberating for almost two hours and asked the jurors to return tomorrow morning to continue considering their verdicts.
