Divers join search for missing fisherman

Navy divers joined the search today for a man who swept out to sea while fishing.

A full-scale operation was launched when the foreign national disappeared at an area called the Bridges of Ross near Kilkee, Co Clare.

Valencia coastguard said the search, called off at nightfall, resumed at first light.

Several local crews were involved in the operation including the Rosslare Coastguard helicopter, Kilkee Coastguard and inshore rescue boat Kilrush lifeboat and Fenit lifeboat.
