Restrictions at most Irish airports will be lifted at 4am on Thursday morning.

The Irish Aviation Authority says overflights of Irish airspace between North America and Europe will continue as normal.

The volcanic ash cloud above Ireland is now moving away in a south west direction.

As of now the Aviation Authority can confirm that airports in Dublin, Waterford, Donegal and Cork will resume operations at 4am on Thursday morning.

Restrictions at Sligo airport will be lifted from 6am.

Shannon, Galway and Ireland West airport in Knock will be opened from 8am

Kerry airport is due to resume operations at 9am.

Airline passengers are being advised to log onto their airline websites to establish the up-to-date position on flight schedules.
