Call for govt to implement Ferns report recommendations
CARI is calling on the Government to immediately implement the recommendations of the Ferns report on children's services.
The report recommends the setup of a counselling network for children who've been sexually abused, and their families.
CARI says despite the recent focus on institutional and clerical child sex abuse, the fact is that over 80% of sexually abused children are hurt by family members or other trusted adults.
Ombudsman for Children Emily Logan helped launch the report, and says children at risk today must be prioritised.
