Harney rejects universal healthcare proposal
Health Minister Mary Harney tonight rejected calls for Ireland to move to universal social insurance to fund hospitals and care.
Amid radical proposals for free GP and acute care and medicines, Ms Harney claimed the initiative did not promise a one-tier system for all.
