Further passport disruption not ruled out

Unions are not ruling out further disruption at the passport office despite chaotic scenes in Dublin last week.

The Civil Public and Services Union (CPSU) committee will decide today if they will take more action- in protest over pay cuts across the public service introduced in Budget 2010.

On Friday, people waiting for their passports staged their own sit-in protest at the office when they realised they were not going to receive their travel documents in time for flights.

The Government is today expected to signal its concern to staff at the office with pay likely to be docked if the action continues.

However, Theresa Dwyer, assistant general secretary of the CPSU said it is not to blame.
