Youth charged in connection with Finglas shooting
A youth charged in connection with the shooting of a man in Finglas in Dublin last October, was served with a book of evidence at the Children’s Court today.
The man, who is in his 20s, had been hospitalised after he was shot in the early hours of October 18 last.
A then 17-year-old boy was charged two days later at the Dublin Children’s Court with assault causing harm to Mr Stephen Keenan and possessing a handgun, at Mellowes Avenue, in Finglas in connection with the incident.
The defendant, Darren Dunne, of Cappagh Avenue, Finglas, who has since turned 18, and is no longer a juvenile, appeared again at the Children's Court today where he was served with a book of evidence.
Judge Clare Leonard made an order sending the case forward for trial at the present term of the Dublin Circuit Criminal Court.
She advised the teenager that if he intended to use an alibi as part of his defence he must notify the prosecution and furnish the relevant details within 14 days.
The teenager was granted legal aid and was remanded on bail pending his trial.
As a condition of his bail, he has been ordered not to have any contact with witnesses as well as the alleged injures party and his family.
