Bray tops litter-free league

Bray has gone from being one of Ireland's dirtiest towns to its cleanest in just one year.

The Irish Business Against Litter organisation has awarded the Wicklow town the top prize in its annual survey.

This year a record 39 out of 60 irish towns were classed as 'litter free', though all the major cities fell in to the bottom third.

Cathaoirleach of Bray Town council John Ryan said a major community effort took place after last year's poor result, with everyone from local schools to busineses in the town rowing in behind the big tidy-up.
