Hundreds of mourners paid respects Cardinal Cahal Daly today as his remains were laid in state in a Belfast cathedral closely associated with his ministry.

Senior clerics joined church representatives of different faiths, politicians and members of the public in St Peter’s Cathedral in the west of the city as the coffin of Cardinal Daly was carried inside.
