The first water has started to flow again from the Cork water treatment plant badly damaged in last Friday's flood.

Cork City Council says emergency repairs to Lee Road works are proceeding to plan - and should be completed over the weekend.

Water is being pumped initially to a series of reservoirs before being passed into the general system.

Householders in the affected areas are being advised to make sure their taps are turned off now to prevent accidental flooding when supply to their homes is restored.
