Visitor restrictions as C. Difficile hits Navan hospital

Visitor restrictions and some elective surgeries have been cancelled at Our Lady's Hospital in Navan following an outbreak of the contagious bug C. Difficile.

The HSE is awaiting test results to establish if there was a link between the outbreak in Meath and the outbreak in Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital in Drogheda where 21 C. Difficile cases have been confirmed so far.

The Louth County Coroner is also examining whether the infection was a factor in five deaths at the hospital.
