Doctors mistakenly diagnose meningitis child with swine flu

A five-year-old child is fighting for her life in hospital after being mistakenly diagnosed with swine flu instead of meningitis.

Ruby Ayoub from Sandyford in Dublin was taken to hospital after displaying symptoms of swine flu but it later emerged the youngster had meningitis.

Both conditions can begin with similar symptoms including high temperature, vomiting and headache.
