Work to begin on six new schools next spring

Education Minister Batt O'Keefe has announced that construction work will begin on six new schools next spring.

Mr O'Keefe says good value for money has been achieved under a public-private partnership scheme for the five new secondary schools and one primary school.

The projects will create almost 5,000 new places in the school system.

The second-level schools will be built in Cork, Limerick, Meath, Kildare and Wicklow, while a gaelscoil in Co Cork will also get a new eight-classroom building.
