Man critically injured in Tipperary assault

A 22-year-old man has been critically injured in a serious assault in Co. Tipperary.

The man was attacked outside a pub on Mitchell Street in Thurles at about 1.30am this morning.

He remains in a critical condition in Tipperary General Hospital.

The scene has been preserved for a technical examination and gardaí are appealing for anyone who might have witnessed the attack to contact them.
