President Mary McAleese is due to host a special reception at Áras an Uachtaráin today for GOAL aid worker Sharon Commins.

The 33-year-old, from Clontarf in Dublin, was kidnapped by an armed gang in Darfur along with a Ugandan colleague in early July.

The pair spent more than three months in captivity before being released over the weekend.

Ms Commins was flown home to Dublin earlier this week on the government jet.

The reception being hosted by Mrs McAleese today is for the Commins family and the Irish officials involved in helping to secure her release.
