Population in North to top 1.8 million

The population in the North will top the 1.8 million mark next year.

It is projected to rise by 4% over five years, hitting 1.839 million by 2013, up 64,000 on the 1.775,000 of 2008, according to figures released today by the Northern Ireland Statistics and Research Agency.
