Injunction granted against Dublin Port protestors

The High Court has granted an injunction to the Dublin Port Company against a number of protestors who attempted to block ships from entering and leaving the port yesterday.

The protests were part of a long-running dispute between workers and Marine Terminals Limited, a company based at the port.

Employees have been on strike for several weeks as part of a row over redundancies and other cost cuts.

Yesterday, protestors in small boats attempted to disrupt traffic into and out of the port.

The Dublin Port Company says the action was irresponsible and dangerous and amounted to a secondary picket aimed at involving other firms in the dispute.
