Cigarettes worth €1m seized in Carlow warehouse

More than €1m worth of smuggled cigarettes have been seized at a warehouse in Co Carlow.

More than €1m worth of smuggled cigarettes have been seized at a warehouse in Co Carlow.

Three million John Player cigarettes were smuggled into Dublin Port from China last Friday in a container labelled as containing toys.

Customs officers kept the container under surveillance until today when officers, supported by the Gardaí, raided the warehouse and a private residence.

Three people from Carlow have been arrested and taken for questioning to Carlow garda station.
