Man shot dead in Dublin

Gardaí in Dublin have launched a murder investigation after a man was shot dead in the south of the city.

The man was shot a number of times at Lealand Close in Clondalkin at around 9.50pm last night.

He was rushed to Tallaght Hospital but was pronounced dead a short time later.

The gunman made his escape in a car which gardaí later discovered on fire in the immediate area.

A post mortem exam is due to be carried out later today.
