Exchequer figures show €16.5bn deficit

The State’s finances showed little signs of recovery last month collapsing more than €16bn into the red.

The latest Exchequer returns published today revealed the Government’s coffers are €10bn worse than the same period last year after a collapse in taxes and the billions paid into banks.
