The Ombudsman for Children has said that any proposal to merge her office with other state organisations would be a retrograde step.

The body set up by the Government to examine ways to cut public spending is reportedly set to recommend that Emily Logan's office be merged with that of the Ombudsman and the Data Protection Commissioner.
