Four more held over Polish man's murder

A woman was arrested in London today for questioning about the murder of a Polish man in the North.

The 21-year-old was among four people detained during the day over the killing of Marek Muszynski, 40, in Newry, Co Down, on Tuesday.

The suspect was being flown back to the province under guard.

Mr Muszynski, who lived in Newry, was found beaten to death in the city centre.

The Police Service of Northern Ireland said that, as well as the arrest in London, an 18-year-old man, a 20-year-old-woman and a 13-year-old boy had been arrested in Newry.

They were taken to the PSNI’s Serious Crime Suite in Antrim for questioning.

Another man and women arrested in Newry yesterday remain in custody. A woman arrested at the same time has been released on police bail following questioning.

Police have not released the nationality of those arrested or said whether they are treating the killing as a race crime. A motive is still being established.

The body of Mr Muszynski, from Sandys Street, Newry, was discovered off Upper Edward Street in the lane behind the city swimming pool just before 1am on Tuesday.

Detectives have appealed for anyone with information or who witnessed suspicious activity to contact them.
