Bus Éireann urged not to cut services

The Council for the West is calling on Bus Éireann to rethink its plan to cut routes around the country.

The company said it must make savings as passenger numbers are down by 10% and it is currently losing more than €500,000 per week.

Management and unions are due before the Labour Relations Commission next week over moves by the company to cut more than 200 jobs.

The council, which lobbies for the development of the West, said it is very worried about the impact of cutting routes.
