McAleese celebrates European anniversary
President Mary McAleese will travel for Strasbourg today to mark the 60th anniversary of the Council of Europe.
Tomorrow the President will address the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe and meet dignitaries including the President of the Parliamentary Assembly, the Secretary General of the Council, the Council’s Commissioner for Human Rights and members of the Irish Parliamentary Assembly.
In the afternoon, President McAleese will visit the European Court of Human Rights where she will meet the President of the Court and Irish staff working within the institution.
She will return to Dublin tomorrow night.
