Hunt for hit-and-run driver in North

A hit-and-run driver who knocked a 13-year-old boy off his bike in Belfast, inflicting head injuries, was being hunted by police today.

The boy was thrown from his cycle at 9pm last night on the Suffolk Road in the west of the city.

Police said he suffered head, shoulder and arm injuries which were not believed to be life threatening.

A spokesman said a silver car was involved in the accident and appealed for witnesses to contact them. They said they especially want to hear from a taxi driver who may have gone to the assistance of the boy.
