Former TD's son dies in Galway traffic accident

A 29-year-old man has died in a road accident in Galway today.

It happened at around 6.30am, after his car left the road and collided with a fence, on the main Dunmore to Glenamaddy Road.

He has been named locally as Mark Killilea - the son of former Fianna Fáil TD and MEP Mark Killilea Junior.

He was the driver and sole occupant of the car and was pronounced dead at Roscommon Hospital this morning.

A Garda Forensic Collision Investigation took place at the scene this afternoon.
