Harney says Waterford failings are being addressed
Health Minister Mary Harney says all of the issues outlined in a HIQA assessment of Waterford Regional Hospital are being addressed.
Reports this morning say the unpublished assessment found that the hospital was failing to meet 36 of the 48 national standards for specialist cancer services.
Waterford Hospital is the designated breast cancer centre of excellence for the south-east of the country.
Asked about the matter this morning, Ms Harney said some of the failings identified by the Health Information and Quality Authority had already been addressed.
She said the others would be rectified in time as recruitment of the necessary specialists proceeds.
