The National Bus and Rail Union (NBRU) is to hold an emergency meeting on Friday to discuss the dispute at Dublin Bus, it was confirmed this afternoon.

It follows the drivers’ rejection of Labour Court proposals to end the dispute between unions and management over the company's cost-cutting plan.

Dublin Bus has confirmed plans to take 120 buses from the fleet from Sunday will go ahead, in spite of warnings from union leaders not to do so.

The NBRU has written to the company asking them to defer their cost-cutting plan, and drivers are threatening industrial action if the fleet reduction goes ahead.
