Lenihan to face grilling about ongoing banking crisis
Finance Minister Brian Lenihan is set to face a grilling from TDs and Senators this morning regarding the crisis in Irish banking.
Mr Lenihan is due to appear before the Oireachtas Committee on Finance and the Public Service.
He is expected to face tough questions about the ongoing controversy surrounding the activities of Anglo Irish Bank, as well as the €7bn recapitalisation of AIB and Bank of Ireland.
The minister is also likely to face questions about the appointment of Richie Boucher as the new chief executive of Bank of Ireland.
Mr Boucher was previously the head of the bank's retail arm.
The Labour Party has criticised his appointment, saying the promotion of an internal executive will not send out the right message that the "cosy culture" in Irish banking has changed.
