Students to march against reintroduction of fees

The Union of Students in Ireland is planning a major demonstration in Dublin today to protest against any move to reintroduce third-level fees.

The action comes amid continuing suggestions by Education Minister Batt O'Keefe that he would like to reintroduce fees.

The USI says any such move would prevent poorer people from attending college and could put Ireland's knowledge-based economy at risk.

Protests will gather at Parnell Square at 1.30pm before marching to Leinster House.
