Clare school struck by lightning
A Co. Clare School has been badly damaged after being struck by lightning this morning.
Up to 15 windows at Crusheen National School were blown out and both the phone and power lines were destroyed.
A number of nearby homes also had to be evacuated by the fire service when a lightening bolt struck a metal barrier and then a tree, causing it to shatter and sent the debris flying.
The school will remain closed tomorrow while repairs are carried out.
