Lenihan says today is important day for Ireland

Finance Minister Brian Lenihan has described today as an important day for Ireland in tackling the challenges of the economic downturn.

This afternoon, Mr Lenihan is due to unveil what is expected to be the toughest Budget in decades, with tax increases and major spending cuts on the cards.
