Sinn Féin seek details of guarantee scheme

Sinn Féin has called on the Government to clarify the details of the deposit guarantee scheme that was given the go-ahead earlier this week.

The party supported the €400bn plan, which sees the Government guarantee all deposits and loans in Irish-owned banks.

MEP Mary Lou Mc Donald has said that proper terms and conditions now need to be set out to ensure proper pay back for the Irish taxpayer.

Mc Donald believes that strict regulation of the banking sector is essential.
