Trial of Irish man charged with killing wife postponed in Spain

The trial of an Irish man charged with killing his wife while on holiday in Spain eight years ago was postponed today because of a bomb scare.

39-year-old Dermot McArdle of Brockfield, Heynestown in Dundalk, Co Louth is alleged to have pushed his wife Kelly Ann Corcoran from a balcony on the first night of their holiday in Marbella in February 2000. He denies the charges.

The trial was due to get underway at a courthouse in Malaga earlier but had to be postponed after an anonymous caller telephoned in a bomb scare which turned out to be a hoax. It’s now scheduled to begin tomorrow.
