Two men gunned down in Dublin pub shooting

One man has been shot dead and a second injured after they were gunned down tonight by masked men in a pub.

The shooting took place at the Jolly Toper bar in the Finglas area of Dublin just before 7pm when two men wearing balaclavas walked into the premises.

Gardaí said the killers, both armed with handguns, singled out their two victims in the upstairs of the bar shooting them a number of times.

The wounded men were taken to the city's Mater Hospital where one of them died a short time later.

The second man’s injuries are not believed to be life threatening.

In a statement Gardaí said: “No arrests have been made at this time and investigations are ongoing. The scene is being preserved pending a full forensic examination by the Garda Technical Bureau.

“The services of the State Pathologist have also been requested.”

Gardaí appealed for anyone information to come forward.
