Cannabis worth about €120,000 was discovered today when detectives stopped a car in Co Carlow.

Cannabis worth about €120,000 was discovered today when detectives stopped a car in Co Carlow.

The 21-year-old driver was arrested during the planned operation at Dublin Road.

He is being held at Carlow garda station under the Drug Trafficking Act.

Officers from the Carlow Drug Unit, with back-up from the Garda National Drugs Unit, stopped the car at around 12.30pm.

The cannabis has been sent to the Garda Technical Bureau for forensic examination.
