Principals seek abolition of post-primary waiting lists
School principals are reportedly calling for the abolition of waiting lists for secondary schools.
Reports this morning say the move is being recommended by the National Association for Principals and Deputy Principals in a submission to the Department of Education on enrolment policies.
The NAPD says schools should only accept applications from sixth-class pupils and only in the September and October prior to first-year admission.
Such a move would have a major effect on fee-paying private schools, many of which operate waiting lists from birth.
