Blood Transfusion Service to hold weekend clinics

The Irish Blood Transfusion Service is holding a number of clinics over the bank holiday weekend in response to a serious shortfall in blood supply.

Every week it needs three thousand donations in order to meet hospital requirements.

Hospital demand has increased by almost a thousand over the same period last year.
