Man in serious condition after Limerick city assault

A man is in a serious condition in hospital this morning following a serious assault in Limerick city last night.

The victim, who is in his mid-40s, was attacked outside a pub on Hyde Road shortly after 10.30pm.

He suffered serious injuries and was taken to the Midwestern Regional Hospital in Dooradoyle.

The scene has been sealed off for technical examination and Gardaí are appealing for any witnesses to come forward.
