Thirty-one-year-old Mark Smyth, from Duleek in Co Meath, was stabbed to death in the Fortlawn estate in Blanchardstown on Tuesday night.

He was off-duty at the time.

Gardaí believe he picked up a man and woman in their 20s who were known to him and drove them to Blanchardstown with his own partner and baby son also in the car.

However, a row broke out in the car and he was later stabbed to death while trying to flee down the road.
